Eric Newman is a Los Angeles-based producer, host, and critic with over 15 years of experience telling deeply-reported stories about the most vital issues of our moment across podcasts, TV, radio, film, web and print media.

His producing credits on chart-topping podcasts in comedy and true crime include Bitter Blood: Murdoch v. Murdoch (Audible), Funny My Way (Audible), Queen of the Con (iHeartPodcasts), The Real Killer (iHeartPodcasts), Bitter Blood: Kasem v. Kasem (Audible Originals), The First Wife: John Meehan’s Reign of Terror (Audible Originals), and The Murder of Robert Wone (Audible Originals). He has also done development work on a range of podcast, film, and TV projects for clients including AYR Media, 44 Blue, and This Is Just A Test.

In addition to his work in production and development work, Eric is host of The LARB Radio Hour, a weekly arts and entertainment program on KPFK 90.7FM in Los Angeles, where he interviews emerging and established writers, scholars, and film directors.

Eric began his career as a reporter at Condé Nast and Nielsen Business Media, where he covered fashion, alcohol, and entertainment advertising. In 2017, he became the Gender & Sexuality editor of the LA Review of Books, and is currently an Editor-at-Large. His writing has appeared in a wide range of publications, including LARB, LitHub, Bookforum, Callaloo, Modernism/modernity, and English Language Notes.

He holds a Ph.D. in English from UCLA, an M.A. in Humanities from the University of Chicago, and a BA in English and Journalism from New York University.
